Creative Arts

In Creative Arts at Bute House, the students learn to push their creative boundaries, take calculated risks and become self-motivated, independent and more resourceful learners.

Bute House girls study a range of subjects, including drawing, painting, 3D design, textiles, woodwork, photography, ceramics and printmaking. They develop their technical skills through varied projects that always have an element of freedom and so allow for strong individual expression. Pupils research artists and designers from around the world and make cross-curricular links, such as the impact of materials on our environment.

We have a purpose-built Art and Design studio which is modern, light and airy, providing our students with an inspiring workspace to be creative. We also have a purpose-built Food Technology room, where students learn about nutrition and practical techniques for preparing food from around the globe.

“Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time.”
