The new Y3 classes had a wonderful day getting to know each other and we were delighted by a drumming performance to finish the day. Today we welcomed our new Reception girls and their parents to the school for the first time – what a very happy and bubbly little group of girls! It was also lovely to meet Year 5 parents this morning in our first ‘Welcome Meeting’ and I look forward to seeing many more of you next week as the welcome meetings continue.
I will write to you each week with a little update or insights into the week and I hope you will enjoy seeing the photos of the girls engaged in their activities. Please click on the “Parent Area” Button, below the notices, to see the wonderful photos after logging in. One slight change that I would like to highlight to you is how you can communicate with me if you need to. Any emails to me or Mrs Fildes (Deputy Head) can now be sent directly to my PA, Ms Myrsini Psalidaki: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Have a great weekend.
NOTICES FROM THE PERFORMING ARTS DEPARTMENT
Welcome back! We hope you had a fun and restful summer; all of us teachers in the department look forward to greeting your daughters and once again offering lively and dynamic Drama, Dance and Music lessons.
Excitingly, we will start the term by extending an invitation to our budding musicians in Upper School to join the School Orchestra. Pupils interested in participating should complete the following form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1e3-UqPzMl5uslEFoUqLjHm5E1663V3DzC1DFJQ53mBw/edit?usp=sharing
Please complete the form by Monday 13th September 2021, if you would like your daughter to participate in orchestra sessions next term.
These sessions will be led by Ms Sarnat, in the Music Studio, every Thursday morning between 8:15 and 9:00. Pupils will need to have their instrument available for the session and attend all lessons throughout the term.
The invitation to join will be extended to instrumentalists who have passed their Grade 3 exam and above, or are currently working at Grade 4 (or the equivalent qualification). We look forward to welcoming a wide variety of pupils and appreciate the commitment pupils have offered in sessions, consistently throughout the term. Due to the specific selection of instrumentalists required, we have the capacity to offer 25 places for Orchestra. This will allow for a range of pieces to be played harmoniously. Therefore, we will review each application and notify you if your child has been offered a place this term. We hope to accommodate as many pupils as we are able to, and will review this each term to allow for as many instrumentalists to be involved, as possible.
We intend to start the first Orchestra session from Thursday 23rd September 2021.
We will also be running LAMDA classes this term, on Wednesday afternoons and Saturday mornings for pupils in Years 3, 4, 5 and 6.
The first session will be on Wednesday 22nd September.
The 30 minute sessions on Wednesdays will be held between 3:30 and 5:00; each session costs £15. Times for sessions are organised and will be allocated by Ms Osborne.
If you are interested in signing up, please complete the following form by Friday 10th September: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1qGA7sy5YBrHEWAYCXxv77rhnHgC-Sthrr0q6XFfEAuk/edit?usp=sharing
You will be contacted by Ms Osborne once you have successfully registered.
Lastly, in regards to making requests for music tuition, we will forward a link via Clarion Call in due course. This will allow families to register for the variety of instrumental and vocal lessons offered here at Bute including ensembles, such as Rock School, Bute Keys and Samba workshop amongst many others.
Bike to School Week is back! It starts on Monday 27th September so please do think about walking, scooting or biking to school that week and look out for further announcements!
