Dear Parents,
We have had another wonderful week at Bute House! It was a pleasure to welcome our Year 6 parents in for an 11+ update/social on Thursday evening and Year 6 girls thoroughly enjoyed giving Reception parents their first tour of the school on Wednesday afternoon. It feels so good to be able to invite everyone to the school and to start rebuilding our school community again.
There have been some exceptional assemblies this week, including a focus on Hispanic Heritage in which we celebrated a number of Spanish languages and culture. We even had a personal video message from a local resident in Chile!
6S presented a wonderful class assembly, focusing our attention on inspirational quotations which we should try to live by. Two that stood out to me today:
I hope you have found your parent meetings helpful and informative. I had an excellent meeting myself with Mrs Stonehouse, Chair of the House Committee. We talked about the work of the House Committee and I am looking forward to working closely with parents on a number of projects over the course of the year. Mrs Stonehouse has asked me to draw your attention to some positions within the committee that still need to be filled: Class reps for 4W and 6F; parents who are happy to lead on organising bake sales; parents who are happy to lead on uniform sales. There are many other exciting events to plan for and your support is most welcome. Dads, this includes you, please! Your support is greatly appreciated and if you would like to throw your hat into the ring for any of these positions, please contact Mrs Stonehouse directly: karenstonehouse@btinternet.com .
I plan to have regular update meetings with representatives of the House Committee, in an informal environment, each term to develop dialogue and I look forward to meeting all members later this term.
Have a great weekend.

Dear Parents,
We have had a few questions from some of you about the revised Covid guidelines for pupils within school.
This updated information can now be found in the Parent Area of our website at https://www.butehouse.co.uk/parents/covid-19-parental-information/ along with a link to the full current government advice.
With thanks and best wishes

Many of us are unaware that air quality inside cars can be far worse than outside. Driving to school can have negative effects on your daughter’s health. Walking and cycling on quieter side streets can help to avoid poor air quality. Evidence for this is well established and has been around since the early 1990s. Read more about it here: https://travelwest.info/essential-evidence?ee_categories=air-and-noise
We are looking forward to celebrating Harvest Festival on Friday 24th September 2021. 6D will lead the assembly celebration and a special Harvest Wheatsheaf Loaf will be shared at breaktime (gluten-free bread will also be provided). You can start making your donations for the food bank right now. Girls can drop their donations as they come into school.
Food donations that are especially welcome are: tinned meat, corned beef, chicken, mince, tinned meat pies (no pork please!), tinned vegetables (sweetcorn, carrots, peas etc), tinned fish (preferably tuna please!), tinned fruit, sponge puddings (long life), coffee (small jars).
Food donations that are discouraged: baby formula milk, UHT milk.
Our donations will go to the Hammersmith Food Bank, established in 2010, who deliver thousands of emergency supplies every year. More information can be found here: www.hammersmithfulham.foodbank.org.uk/
Please talk to your daughter about these donations in advance, so that she understands the nature of them and how they can help others.
Thank you for your support.
In our first few Form Times of the year, 5F have enjoyed getting to know each other and rekindling old friendships from Years 3 and 4. We were all so impressed to hear about one another’s hobbies and interests both in and outside of school. From animal lovers and reading enthusiasts to avid ballet dancers, swimmers and tennis players, 5F has such a range of unique talents. We’re all looking forward to an amazing year ahead supporting and motivating each other.
Year 6 have had a fantastic week – with the girls working extremely hard at the start of the exam term. As a reprieve, they were delighted to participate in a workshop run by Boombastic, where they developed their teamwork skills and worked together to produce a wonderful harmony on the ‘boomwhackers’. All work and no play….there is no chance of a dull Year 6!
