Dear Parents,
We have been blessed with some lovely weather this week and we were grateful for the balmy evening on Tuesday when we welcomed our Year 5 parents to enjoy drinks and canapés outside, following a very informative 11+ talk. Richard Tillett, Principal of Queen’s College, London, came to talk about the new format for the London Consortium 11+ entrance exam. We were also delighted to have four of our current Year 6 parents attend and talk about the 11+ experience from their perspective.
Prior to this, we were treated to a small collection of musical performances from girls in Years 1 to 6 at one of our, now regular, music teas. It was heartwarming to see the confidence and talents of the girls who performed.
It has been a good week for swimming – I attended the IAPS nationals on Saturday to see our girls in action and this Thursday they became the winners of the London League in the grand final held at JAGS. Arianna, our long standing swimming coach commented:
It was a tremendous gala with swimming and racing of the highest standard. There was a titanic battle in the middle of the pool between the boys from Cumnor House and the Bute House girls and eventually our girls upheld the honour of the North, emerging victorious.
The other coaches commented that the Bute girls’ performance was outstanding.
Well done to all who participated and also our thanks to the teaching team who give so much time to supporting the girls before and after school.
On Wednesday, Reception girls took part in a wonderful Early Years Festival on Brook Green in partnership with St Mary’s and Addison. They made maps using natural materials, played games with the parachute and marvelled at the animals brought in from a farm – chicks, goats and Shetland ponies!
I do hope that you enjoy the summer weather this weekend and I look forward to seeing you on Monday.
Warm regards,
Sian
