Reception Trip to Odds Farm

Reception had a wonderful time at Odds Farm this week! We met a farmer, fed chickens, pigs and goats, rode on a tractor and stroked some bunnies! We also spent time at the brilliant playground there!

Year 3 Bushcraft

Year 3 certainly were happy campers after their Bushcraft night stay in Blenheim Woods!

Marilena Gianniou 3K – I enjoyed Bushcraft because we got to make a fire by ourselves.

Alexa Namirembe 3G  – I liked roasting marshmallows and relaxing in our tent. I really enjoyed cooking our lunch on the fire.

Daliah Bassou 3H – I really enjoyed Bushcraft because it helped me understand more about nature and I loved exploring different things.

Holmewood House Gymnastic Competition

Well done to the girls who participated in the U7/8 Championships on Sunday 12th June.

A fantastic team performance achieving Joint 4th and 9th positions.

Regional Athletics

Well done to all the girls that went to Regional Athletics.

Special mention to Callista and Violeta who won their event and have qualified to represent London at the Nationals in Nuneaton.

EYFS Festival

As part of our Partnerships programme, Reception attended an Early Years Festival in Brook Green on Wednesday, joined by two other local schools. The girls took part in map-making, gardening, storytelling and park games, as well as meeting some farm animals! We are fairly certain that the ice cream was the best part of this fun day!

Art Workshop with St Stephen’s

On Thursday, we welcomed another Year 3 class from St Stephen’s, for an Art workshop. The children enjoyed experimenting with mark-making and collage in order to make their self-portraits. A special thank you to Mrs Russell for all the preparation beforehand, and for keeping a check on how the work was progressing during the morning. Our two Creative Arts ambassadors, Victoire and Violeta, also lent a hand offering assistance when needed. We look forward to seeing the same class next week, so that they can finish their 2D work and develop their portraits using terracotta clay.

London League Grand Final

Congratulations to all the girls who took part in the Grand Final of the London League on Wednesday 15th June at JAGS Sports Club. The results are as follows:

Bute House – 515 points

Cumnor House – 487 points

JAGS – 428 points

Latymer – 385 points

KCS – 385 points

Wetherby – 311 points

A fantastic win, which means that we finish as champions of the London League out of the 24 teams that entered; an excellent performance by all! Really well done girls!

IAPS Swimming Competition

On Saturday 11th June, 14 of our Year 5 & 6 girls headed to the London Aquatics Centre in Stratford to compete in the finals of the IAPS Swimming Competition. It was a fantastic day out and there were many individual as well as team successes.

The relay teams finished 5th, 6th, 6th and 7th. Whilst in the individual races, Emma Zhang (25m Butterfly), Vittoria (50m Butterfly) and Isabel (50m Backstroke) qualified for the finals in their events. Congratulations to all the girls who swam so brilliantly!

Year 3 – ¿Quieres jugar conmigo?

The girls in Year 3 have been learning how to sing and play a clapping game about the five senses in Spanish. Get them to teach you how to say what we do with each sense using Spanish. They have also taken their Spanish chatterboxes home this week, which they have used to play in pairs and practise making sentences on the spot.

Videos and further photos can be found in the Parent Area.

Year 4 – Extending sentences

In Year 4, the girls have been experimenting with extending sentences in Spanish. In groups, they have combined different subjects, verbs and adverbial clauses in order to build up correct statements on the topic of Sports. To make it harder once they finished, they had to check their sentences against pictures. Was the person in the picture Mateo or Valentina? Was she/she wearing una camiseta roja? If they did not match, they had to make the appropriate changes. It was fun seeing everyone working together and achieve their linguistic goals.
