Dear Parents,
Is it really Friday again? This week has flown by. I have just left Reception after reading them a story and honestly, you wouldn’t think that it was their first week. They have settled into routines so well and are really happy. Year 1 children have had their first swimming lesson this week, creating much excitement and some trepidation, but it all went swimmingly (sorry – I couldn’t resist!).
Year 6 girls presented their speeches to the rest of Upper School for positions of responsibility as ambassadors and members of the school council. All the girls who took part in this process are to be congratulated. They worked very hard and presented their speeches beautifully. It was also wonderful to see how open-hearted and warmly they congratulated each other when the positions were announced today.
I hope you are enjoying our new look website. The team have worked very hard on putting this together and getting it ready for the new term. We hope to utilise it fully, in the coming months, to improve our communication with you. In the meantime, we thank you for your patience.
I look forward to meeting parents of girls in Year 6 next week, Wednesday 15th September, in our Welcome Meeting and 11+ update.
Just a reminder that any emails to me, or Mrs Fildes (Deputy Head), can now be sent directly to my PA, Ms Myrsini Psalidaki: headspa@butehouse.co.uk.
Have a great weekend.

4+ Ballot for Entry into Reception 2023
We will soon be drawing the ballot for entry into Reception in September 2023. As you know, siblings have an automatic place in our Reception class however your daughter must be registered with us in order to secure her place. The deadline for registrations for girls born between 1st September 2018 – 31st August 2019 is Thursday 30th September 2021. Further information and registration forms can be found on the school website: https://www.butehouse.co.uk/admissions/. If you have any questions please contact Mrs Kuiper, Registrar.
Pinnies
Girls in Reception and Year 1 may now wear their green pinnies at lunchtime. The pinnies will be sent home weekly to be washed, please ensure they are returned to school for the following week.
Talk Time
In order to give the girls as much support as possible, particularly in light of the challenging and unsettling times they’ve experienced over the last year, I will be offering a service called ‘Talk Time’. This will be an extended part of the therapeutic service we already have at Bute House. ‘Talk Time’ will consist of ad hoc drop-in sessions, held over lunch time and break, in which the girls can offload any issues or worries they may have. These might include exam nerves, academic stresses, friendship issues, COVID concerns or similar. The sessions last fifteen minutes and the girls can either come alone or bring a friend. These are not therapy sessions but a short occasional chat run by a qualified therapist. If you would NOT like your child to attend any ‘Talk Time’ sessions please notify me by email at kirstyih@butehouse.co.uk by the end of next week.
