Vernee Samuel

Vernee is an education researcher and trainer working primarily with schools and universities. Her research interests include the impact of race and social class on the student experience and the significance of educator-student rapport.

Vernee studied Law at Oxford University and University College London before joining the BBC where she worked as a radio producer in the news, sport and drama departments. She later re-trained as a primary school teacher, starting out in the classroom and then becoming a consultant for looked after children. Her interest in improving outcomes for disadvantaged students led to a Masters in Policy Studies at the UCL Institute of Education.

Vernee lives in Shepherd’s Bush with her husband and two sons and is co-chair of the PTA at Chiswick School. In her spare time she enjoys river walks, theatre trips and singing with the West London Choir.
