Key Responsibilities – Maths Teacher:
- To teach Maths primarily to Year 6, but with the ability to teach further down KS2 if required.
- To liaise closely with the Head of Maths and the Academic Deputy Head to follow and amend an existing programme of study and progression in Maths, considering coverage, continuity and progression for pupils of high ability and those who require more support.
- Alongside the Head of Maths and Academic Deputy Head, establish and implement clear methods of assessing, recording and reporting pupil achievement, and use this information to plan for appropriate next steps in learning.
- To follow the school’s model of best practice in terms of responsive teaching and feedback.
- To prepare pupils for 11+.
- To work with the Head of Learning Enrichment to support pupils and ensure that individual educational plans are used to set subject targets and match work well to pupils’ needs.
- To help promote a love of Maths throughout the school.
- To encourage cross-curricular links with other subjects.
- To prioritise and manage own time effectively, relating to balancing the demands made by teaching and marking with involvement in wider school development and events.
- Take responsibility for own professional development, by setting goals and working closely with coach and line manager.
- To ensure the effective and efficient management and organisation of planning and learning resources, following the school protocols for storing these on Google Drive.
- To maintain existing resources and explore opportunities to develop or incorporate new resources from a wide range of sources inside and outside the school, to create an effective and stimulating environment for the teaching and learning of Maths.
- To ensure that there is a safe working and learning environment in which risks are properly assessed.
- To undertake duties before and after school as required. To organise and run after-school activities, as and when necessary. To attend school functions, as necessary.
- To establish a partnership with parents to involve them in their child’s learning of Maths, as well as providing information about curriculum, attainment, progress and targets. To report to parents verbally and in writing.
- To support colleagues as necessary and work as part of an Upper School team.
Key Responsibilities – Form Teacher:
- To take pastoral responsibility for an Upper School form class and attend relevant pupil progress meetings.
- To register and dismiss them
- To plan and take form times or phase assemblies.
- To write reports for pupils in the form class.
- To accompany them on class trips.
- Any other duties that the Head may reasonably require.
