"Design is not just what it looks like and feels like. Design is how it works."

Steve Jobs

Design Technology develops young children’s skills and knowledge in design, structures, mechanisms, electrical control and a range of materials, including food. DT encourages children's creativity and encourages them to think about important issues. By studying DT, children get the chance to work through a creative process and in turn become more resourceful and innovative. The very nature of DT projects include a hybrid of transferable skills with links to History, Science, Engineering, Maths and Art. In an ever-changing world full of new technologies, thinking outside the box and developing unique ideas and products can help open up a wealth of opportunities for pupils. It can inform future career paths as well as form a more well-rounded educational experience.
