How Do Years 1 and 2 at Bute House Build on Early Foundations?
Throughout Years 1 and 2, our girls move up with the same class friends that they made in Reception, building upon the firm foundations of the years before. Dynamic teachers deliver exciting, well-planned and differentiated lessons using the latest technology and providing the girls with a happy and relaxed, yet challenging, environment in which to work, play and learn. Classrooms are light, bright, and full of appropriate up-to-date resources and books. Each room has easy access to the garden and playground.
We continue to build each child’s confidence and ensure they succeed and flourish, building on their skills, knowledge and understanding as well as introducing new challenges as they become independent learners. They are taught by their class teachers, but have specialist teachers for the Art, Music, Drama, Dance, PE as well as French and Spanish.
How are Specialist Teachers Integrated into Lower School Learning?
Our commitment to your daughter’s development extends well beyond the classroom teacher. We are fortunate to have a team of passionate specialist teachers who share their expertise in a wide range of subjects, enriching the girls’ learning and helping them discover and nurture their individual talents.
From Reception onwards, the girls enjoy specialist lessons in Art, Computing, Dance, Drama, Gymnastics, Languages, Music and P.E. These dedicated teachers play a vital role in extending classroom learning – encouraging creativity, developing new skills, and building confidence and independence.
Our curriculum also makes the most of outdoor learning opportunities. All girls take part in Forest School sessions, both off-site at Perivale Woods and within our own Wilderness Garden at Bute. From Year One upwards, the girls have swimming lessons with a qualified swimming coach and the P.E. team, as well as the opportunity to begin learning a musical instrument with our talented peripatetic music teachers. A variety of after-school clubs is also available from Year One, allowing the girls to further explore their interests and passions.
